Ayutthaya

After our elephant adventure we paid a small fee (50 Baht, which is like $1.50) to walk through the Ayutthaya Historical Park (1 hour drive north of Bangkok) and view the gorgeous old temple ruins. I couldn't believe we were allowed to walk where ever we wanted and wander as long as we liked. The girls climbed steps and inspected Buddhas. Addie collected flowers to put in their "criss cross applesauce" legs. She was so reverent about it. The temples were amazing along with all the ruin walls and pathways, Buddhas, and structures. It was extremely hot that day and we were getting ready for lunch so we all quickly melted into the ground. This was definitely the most historically beautiful place I've seen in SE Asia.Buddha AddieIce cream coma.

Isn't it sad that so many of the statues are decapitated? We really liked it there too.

By the way--thank you for your comments on my "Downside" blog. :) It is hard adjusting to the constant coming and going of friends. After the grandparents go back to the U.S., let's have a play day.

Wow what an amazing place! I absolutely love traveling. It's pretty pathetic the kinds of buildings they're putting up now, when long ago they constructed with such beauty!
